Keep Mental Health in Mind

Stop the stigma surrounding mental health by raising awareness, showing compassion, and getting the conversation started.  

 

Since 1949, Mental Health Awareness month has been celebrated in May to raise awareness, fight stigma, provide support and educate the public about the importance of mental health.  Help spread mental health awareness with these tips to start the conversation early and spread mental health awareness.  

  

Create a Safe Space 

 

Encourage non-judgmental conversations. Avoid using words like “crazy,” “emotional” or “insane” as insults. Provide understanding and let everyone know that you are an ally who cares about their emotional health and wellbeing.  

 

Be Supportive 

 

Everyone needs a strong support system. Check in on the people in your life regularly, especially if they are dealing with a mental illness. Let them know that you’re an ally and happy to help them through hard times.  

 

Share Information 

 

Show the world your support by spreading the word on social media. Use your platform to share information about screenings, hotlines and support for mental health while raising mental health awareness.
