Mental Health Month

04/08/2021 health_wellness

Observe Mental Health Month this May and use your brand to help raise awareness and show your audience that they are not alone.

Since the 1940s, organizations around the world have gathered to help raise mental health awareness, provide resources and stop the stigma that has surrounded mental illness, anxiety and depression. Learn more about how your brand can position yourself as a mental health ally and form a closer connection with all members of your audience.

1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year

Whether they are personally struggling with mental illness or looking to avoid feeling burned out, everyone can benefit from having reliable resources to maintain or improve their mental health. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. For your brand, this means a good portion of your audience members are potentially either struggling with their mental health or have a close friend or family member in their life that does.

Using your brand to provide resources, information and more to raise mental health awareness can be a great way to showcase your brand’s values, morals and priorities.  By showing your supports, recipients will appreciate and recognize the effort of sharing resources to raise awareness and stop the stigma that still surrounds mental illness.

17.3 Million adults had at least one major depressive episode last year

Every year, Americans across the nation struggle with anxiety, depression and other forms of mental illness. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a significant toll on the mental health of people around the world. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), 17.3 million adults had at least one major depressive episode last year. Whether working from home or simply missing getting together with friends and family, limited access to face-to-face interactions has made many Americans feel isolated, bored and even hopeless. Without a sense of togetherness and community, it’s easy for people to forget that they are not alone.

Now more than ever, it’s important for brands to reach out to customers, employees and more to recognize and support mental health challenges they may be facing due to COVID or otherwise. Sending promotional products is a great way to maintain social distancing practices while reminding your audience that your brand cares about their struggles and can’t wait to see them in person again. Recipients will recognize the effort and start to associate your brand with being helpful, generous, kind and supportive.
