SPP Trends: Agriculture Appreciation

04/23/2021 styles_trends

Grow relationships and show your brand’s appreciation for those continuing America's agriculture legacy.

The Future

As we look at the future state of agriculture in 2021, there are a lot of exciting trends. From soil health to farm health, many of the trends are creating a buzz in agricultural areas throughout America. Themes of improving farm profitability and environmental sustainability also touch on each trend.

The History

In 1937, U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt stated that “the nation that destroys its soil destroys itself.” At the time, soil health was an important weapon against soil erosion caused by the “dust bowl days” of the 1930s. Today, soil health is trending for equally important reasons - the preservation of our soils is directly linked to America’s food security and could prove to be a helpful agent in the improvement of climate change.

Agriculture Today

Today, the agriculture industry is filled with both family farms and larger specialized farms that both have a large impact on our economy. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, in 2018 agriculture, food and other related industries contributed 22 million jobs and 11% of U.S. employment. The USDA also found that these industries were responsible for 5.2% of the 2018 U.S. GDP.
